Arrived in Merida at night and checked into Nomadas Hostel and straight away loved the place! Great staff and facilities. We shared a room with our new friends Brittany and El.
In the morning we took a local bus to a small archeological site with some nice Mayan ruins and a great cenote.
Beautiful little observation tower used to keep the date and time depending on the sun and other star positions.
We were constantly surprised by how friendly the local people from Merid were.
Spent a couple hours swimming and snorkeling in this 40m deep cenote with some very aggressive little fish.
We had to walk a couple of kilometers from the archeological site to try and get a taxi or bus from the main road. A nice bus driver saw us walking and waited for us so we didn't have to wait another hour for the next bus.
